Butter chicken taco is a fusion recipe that combines the Indian flavors with the crispy Mexican street style famous tacos. If you ask my daughter what to cook, she’ll say butter chicken, which shows it’s a highly appreciated recipe in my household. I, on the other hand, love this recipe because it’s so quick and easy to put together. The fusion butter chicken tacos are a flavor-packed, easy weekday recipe that you’ll add to your weekly rotation.

What are butter chicken tacos made of
Chicken
I used a combination of chicken breast and thighs, which works the best. You can only use chicken thighs as they are juicier and cost-effective.
What is Butter chicken sauce made of
To make the butter chicken sauce, you will need crushed cumin and coriander seeds, salt, red chili powder, turmeric, and cumin and coriander powder. You’ll also need tomato paste, heavy cream, and fenugreek leaves. If you love making curries, then you most likely have all of these ingredients in your pantry.
Don’t forget butter and a splash of oil as well.
Tortillas and cheese
For the street-style chicken tacos, I used small (4-inch) flour tortillas. To make the crispy tacos, you’ll need oil. Add about 1 tablespoon of oil to a pan. I like to use a non-stick pan over medium heat, lay your tortillas, then a layer of cheese, and then the butter chicken. Once the tortillas are slightly crispy on one side, fold them over with the help of a spatula to shape them like a taco. Then cook until it is crispy on both sides. You can choose to make it extra crispy or leave it soft, depending on your preference. You might need to add more oil to make it extra crispy.
Serving butter chicken tacos
I like to serve the tacos with a fresh salsa. This salsa is made of thinly chopped tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and cucumbers. Season the salsa with salt and pepper, plus a squeeze of fresh lime. Mix it and add a spoonful of the salsa to your taco and enjoy it right away. I didn’t serve any guacamole or sour cream, as the butter chicken is already saucy.
