- 1.5 lbs tilapia I used 2 whole tilapia
Ingredients for coating fish
- 1/4 cup chickpea flour
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp carom seeds or ajwain
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Water to make a paste
- 1 cup Oil to fry

In a grinder, add whole coriander seeds and cumin seeds. Crush the seeds to make a coarse powder.
Now, in a dish, add all of the mentioned ingredients except for oil and the fish. Slowly add water to make a thick paste.
Pat dry your fish and marinate it with the masala for 30 minutes or overnight.
Heat 1 cup of oil in a pan and fry the fish for 7-8 minutes per side.
Once golden, take it out on a paper towel-lined dish to absorb extra oil.
Serve right away.
