Prepare yourself for a breakfast that will be ready in 20 minutes and leave you beaming with pure happiness! For everyone out there who would like to host or just want to surprise their families with something traditional that reminds them of their home, try these recipes that will give you the same nostalgic feeling you use to get every morning in Pakistan when your dad or brother brought a bag full of puris and they were put in a special serving bowl then whole family gathered to indulge into the deliciousness of this luscious brunch.

Ingredients for halwa puri ky Chaney
Chaney or Garbanzo beans
For halwa puri k chaney, I used a 16 oz can of organic garbanzo beans. They are convenient and save time. If you prefer to boil your own chaney, take 1 cup of white dried chickpeas. Soak them overnight. Then add 2 cups of water and the soaked chickpeas to an instant pot or pressure cooker. Cook for about 25 minutes or until soft.
Spices
I used red chili, cumin, and coriander powder in addition to a chicken cube. Adding chicken cubes will quickly enhance the flavors with minimal effort. One package of chicken cubes comes with two cubes but I only used one. DO NOT add any extra salt because the chicken cube is salty.
Tomato paste
Tomato paste gives this recipe color and also helps in thickening the gravy. If you don’t have tomato paste use a pureed tomato.
Ginger garlic paste
It’s a must to add ginger and garlic paste in most of Pakistani and Indian recipes. I like to make a big batch of ginger and garlic and then freeze it in ice cube trays and have it ready to be used whenever I need it. I used 1/2 tsp each of ginger and garlic.
What to serve with Halwa Puri ky Chaney?
I usually serve five different dishes for brunch, Halwa, Puri, Chaney, Aloo ki sabzi, and Dum ka Keema. Recipes are linked at the bottom for you to easily find them.
