Craving that iconic McDonald’s McChicken Burgers but dreaming of something even more irresistible? One bite of this homemade McChicken masterpiece, and you’ll be saying, “McDonald’s who?” This recipe not only captures the beloved flavor and texture but elevates it with a signature mayo and perfectly seasoned, crispy chicken patties!

What goes into the McChicken Burgers?
Chicken
To start making the chicken patty, we need boneless chicken. I used boneless chicken thighs, but you can also use chicken breast or a combination of both. Add the boneless chicken, along with some simple seasonings, to the food processor to make a paste.
Seasoning
Seasoning for the chicken patty is super simple and easy; you only need salt, pepper, onion, and garlic powder to bring out the natural flavors. I added the same seasonings to the all-purpose flour before coating the chicken patties in it, which helps to create a deliciously crispy crust when frying. By ensuring each layer of the dish is well-seasoned, you enhance the overall taste experience, making it much more enjoyable. Additionally, you can adjust the seasoning amounts based on your personal preference and experiment with other herbs and spices for a unique twist on this classic recipe.
Shaping the patties
I divided the chicken mixture into 5 equal balls, and with the help of wet hands, I flattened them to shape into patties. I left the patties in the freezer to solidify for 30 minutes. Once the patties hardened, I coated them in the flour.
Coating
Once the patties are hardened, I coat them with the seasoned flour. For the second coating, I added water to the remaining seasoned flour to make a thick batter and dipped each patty into the batter and fried it right away.
Deep Frying
We need about 3 cups of neutral oil for deep frying; it’ll take 3-4 minutes per side for the patties to fully cook over medium-high heat. Once golden, leave them on the rack to get rid of any extra oil.
What do you need for the sauce?
Burger sauce is super easy to make; you’ll need mayonnaise and mustard. Mix it well, and the sauce is ready. If you like some ketchup, then add a little bit of ketchup as well. No need to add more salt, as mayonnaise is already pretty salty.
What do you need for assembling the Burgers?
To assemble the burgers, you need burger buns. Toast the burger buns on a griddle or in a pan with a little bit of butter.
You’ll also need shredded lettuce, pickled chips, tomatoes, and any other toppings of your choice.
How to serve McChicken Burgers?
To serve your homemade McChicken, start by toasting the hamburger buns lightly for a golden, crisp edge. Spread a generous layer of the special mayo on both the top and bottom buns for that authentic creamy touch. Place a crisp lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the freshly fried chicken patty, ensuring it’s still warm and crunchy. Add a final dollop of mayo on the patty for extra flavor, and gently press the top bun in place. Serve immediately with a side of hot, crispy fries and your favorite beverage for a restaurant-quality experience at home.
