Cilantro Mint Yogurt Sauce is a very famous condiment all over subcontinent. It has many variations, even in my own household I make so many versions of this chutney. Green herbs such as cilantro and mint is blended with green chilies, salt and cumin powder. Green mixture is then mixed with yogurt to make a thick and creamy chutney.

Ingredients for Cilantro Mint Yogurt Sauce
Yogurt
I like to use full fat regular or greek yogurt. Fat free yogurt or 2 % can also be used in this recipe. For vegan version use an avocado instead of the yogurt.
Green chilies
I used 1 medium size Serrano pepper but they are pretty hot. Use a Jalapeños or take the seeds out to cut the spiciness. Any other green chili will work for this recipe.
Mint leaves and cilantro
In this recipe I used both mint and cilantro leaves. Sometimes I make this chutney only with cilantro. Use 2:1 ratio of cilantro and mint leaves.
Cumin powder
Cumin powder make this chutney more flavorful. Sometimes I don’t add cumin powder so it’s up to your likings if you want to use it or not.
Blending the ingredients
I like to add all of the ingredients with a little bit of water or 2 tbsp of the yogurt to a blender. Blend it really well and then add into the remaining yogurt. Use a whisk or a fork to mix everything together. I will not recommend adding all of the yogurt into the blender because chutney will turn out runny and watery.
How to store Mint Cilantro Yogurt Sauce
To freeze the chutney, blend green chili, cilantro, mint and cumin powder with some water and freeze the mixture in ice cube trays. Thaw them and mix with the yogurt and salt right before serving.
Tips
1. Do not add salt in the mixture to freeze chutney.
2. Keep fully mixed chutney in an air tight container for up to a week.
